Threatdown 2010-11: The Portland Trail Blazers

I’m quickly realizing that this series is proving to be less entertaining and helpful to Laker fans so much as it serves to just piss off other fan bases.  I have absolutely no problem with that.  The fan base that will thus be getting their panties in a bunch this week is none other than the Portland Trail Blazers.  Every season is supposed to be the season that Portland becomes a serious title contender, will this finally be that year and even then, do they have enough talent to really challenge the Lakers?

Feb. 07, 2010 - Portland, USA - PORTLAND, (USA) 07/02/2010.- Portland Trail Blazers winger LaMarcus Aldridge (L) fights for the ball with Spanish pivot Pau Gasol (R) of Los Angeles Lakers during their NBA Basketball game played at Rose Garden stadium in Portland, USA on 7 February 2010.

Don’t expect LA to back down from the budding threat in Rip City.

Friday Forum of Fire: Lamar Odom and Team USA

Normally it is Kobe and Pau headlining the Laker entrants into international competition each summer, but this year the Lakers have just one representative in the FIBA World Championships: Lamar Odom.  While LO is merely a sixth man (granted, a superlative one) for the champion Lakers, Team USA is counting on Odom to not only be one of their lead big men, but one of their overall leaders as well since he and Chauncey Billups are the only two players on the roster with championship rings and extensive post-season experience.  With the championships getting underway tomorrow, what can we come to expect for Odom?

Threatdown 2010-11: The Utah Jazz

The Jazz have become the Lakers’ annual playoff whipping boy, but after a roster shakeup this summer, can Utah finally find a way to break their Laker jinx or will it just be history repeating itself?
