So, three games (or maybe two?) in Orlando, eh? I could certainly imagine worse towns to play in (hellooooooo,Cleveland), but still, it ain’t Los Angeles.
Actually, the series shifting to Orlando is a perfect metaphor for this series. The Magic are trying hard to be as good as the Lakers, but thus far can’t pull it off. Kind of like Orlando has Disney World, but it isn’t quite as good as California’s Disney Land. The effort is there, all the requisite parts are in place, but it just isn’t as good as the original.
Questions of the Night:
- Does Orlando actually have fans? I’ve lived on both coasts and never actually met an Orlando Magic fan. I’m sure there are some, but enough to actually give the Tragic an advantage in their dumpy little arena? Methinks not.
- How many Orlando columnists will piss and moan about the late start time for the game, 9 PM Eastern? I used to live on the East Coast, believe me every citizen of the city of Orlando is going to pitch a fit that they have to stay up past 11 o’clock to watch the end of the game. And don’t think for a minute they won’t use it as an excuse if the Tragic lose.
- How many times will Kobe break out the new underbite scowl? Nice to see that he finally found his own gimmick after trying to copy the Jordan tongue all of these years.
