Laker Linkage – 6/17/09
June 17th, 2009 | by Garrett Wilson |- The speculation has begun on Phil Jackson’s eventual replacement and once again Mike Krzyzewski’s name is being thrown into the mix even though he hasn’t said anything publically to suggest he is interested. Laker fans love this rumor for some reason, but it is NEVER going to happen.
- Big decisions loom for the Lakers after today’s parade and they must already combat rumors of Ariza going to the Pistons or Blazers.
- Bill Plaschke wants to make sure everyone remembers that Mitch Kupchak was the guy who put the championship roster together and he should get just as much credit as everyone else.
- Trevor Ariza wants to come back to the Lakers because he “felt loved” in his exit interview this week.
- Trevor Ariza also believes that the play the keyed the Lakers’ title run was when Derek Fisher busted Luis Scola in the chops, showing the rest of the team how to be tough.
- In addition to their free agency issues, let’s not forget that the Lakers have some big questions to answer about their point guard situation this summer.
- The custom-made yellow X cap Phil was rocking during the trophy presentation is now for sale to the public through his agents, with the proceeds going to charity. Funnily enough, the cap was made by his agents and not his children as Phil originally believed. Translation, agents are more grateful than kids.
- Set your Tivos, Kobe is going to be on the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien tonight.
- Lakers Nation has all the championship parade info that anybody making late plans to attend might need.
