Laker Linkage – 7/7/09
July 7th, 2009 | by Garrett Wilson |- Not that there was any question, but Kobe definitely wants Lamar Odom to come back.
- Kobe already is having to downplay concerns over Crazy Ron Artest’s craziness. Artest hasn’t even signed his contract yet and the questions are already coming in to his fellow Lakers. Yup, this could be a long three years.
- Kobe will be at today’s Michael Jackson memorial service since he was a fan of Jacko growing up. Also, MJ’s body is going to be on display at the service at Staples Center. My initial reaction was that it was kind of weird to have a corpse in the Lakers’ arena, but then I remembered the Kwame Brown era and suddenly it doesn’t feel so weird anymore.
- It looks like Ron Arest is going to wear #37 this year.
- Ric Bucher stated via Twitter that the Lakers shouldn’t worry about the Blazers chasing after Lamar Odom. If true (since Twitter obviously prevents a detailed explanation behind his statement), that is great news for the Lakers as Portland is the only good team with significant cap room left.
- Pau Gasol is getting the hero treatment in his hometown, having a statue erected in his honor. Personally, I can’t wait to see what his beard looks like in bronze.
