Laker Linkage – 7/9/09
July 9th, 2009 | by Garrett Wilson |- The Lakers will have to pay a steep price to keep Lamar Odom, but may not have a choice since they have no real way to acquire a capable replacement.
- Mitch Kupchak talks about the Ariza-Artest situation as well as re-signing Lamar Odom.
- Bill Plaschke seems convinced Ron Artest’s attempt to “hoodalize” the Lakers is going to wear thin very quick in the Laker locker room.
- Here is some video of Artest’s press conference yesterday:
- For the record, Artest’s deal is for five years and $34 million, not a three year deal as originally reported. Those two extra years mke this deal even riskier for the Lakers since they will have a very difficult time getting out of it if it blows up in their face.
- Here is the first official look at Artest in his new Laker threads:

- Jordan Farmar is escaping the Artest hoopla by playing in the World Series of Poker where he is actually doing quite well so far.
