Laker Linkage – 7/14/09
July 14th, 2009 | by Garrett Wilson |- The Minnesota Timberwolves are considering Kurt Rambis for their vacant head coaching position. I have to wonder if the feeling is mutual from Clark Kent seeing how he turned down the Sacramento job, I can’t imagine him wanting to get involved in the flaming train wreck that is the T’Wolves.
- Lamar Odom is “still hopeful” of returning to the Lakers.
- However, Mitch Kupchak is “not as hopeful.”
- Laker fans best hope that the Jazz don’t match the Blazers’ offer sheet for Paul Millsap because it is thought that Portland will turn to Lamar Odom if they lose out on Millsap. I actually have a hard time buying this. The Blazers have shown little interest in Lamar thus far and are probably better off finding some sort trade to use their cap space on rather than just throwing the money at Odom because he is the best available free agent.
- The OC Register has a video interview with Lamar Odom about the contract negotiations.
- Mitch Kupchak, the former protege of Jerry West, is making a name for himself. That name probably includes a few expletives right now if you ask Trevor Ariza and Lamar Odom, but Kupchak definitely isn’t the figurehead executive I thought he would be when the logo first left the Lakers.
- Kwame Brown is selling his old Playa Del Rey digs finally… at a nearly $500,000 loss. Excuse me if I never stop laughing at this. I am very tempted to attend the open house just to see if there are cracked tiles in the floor from Kwame constantly dropping things.
- At his own summer basketball camp, Kobe vows not to get dunked on like a certain someone.

odom:
We all LOVE odom but If the negotiations with odom are truly at a standstill and time could open an avenue for his escape… try talking to New York about a sign and trade for Robinson and Lee. Lee is the second coming of Rodman and Robinson is quick enough to keep the small guards in front of him. If New York is considering the utah forward for 14 mill, why not odom at 10? If portland does not get millsap, then talk to them about a sign and trade for one of the Rodriguez guards and one of their tall guys… they’re loaded.
