Laker Linkage – 10/15/09
October 15th, 2009 | by Garrett Wilson |- The Story: Injuries are likely to prevent Pau Gasol and Luke Walton from playing in today’s pre-season game. The Fire Says: The injuries are both considered minor, so this is just a precaution. Nothing to worry about.
- The Story: Jim Cleamons, Brian Shaw and Frank Hamblen will rotate as the Lakers’ defensive coordinator. The Fire Says: What is this, the NFL? WIth Rambis gone, the Lakers have no go-to defensive coach, so they are taking the divide and conquer approach with each assistant focusing on one third of the teams in the NBA and coming up with a scheme for their assigned opponents. It sounds weird but it actually makes a lot of sense because it allows each assistant to get more in-depth knowledge of each team.
- The Story: Warriors swingman Stephen Jackson isn’t going to “bow down” to Kobe Bryant. The Fire Says: I don’t even know what prompted these comments from Jackson, all I know is that he should probably a little less about Kobe and a little more about not getting suspended by his own team during the pre-season.
- The Story: Will Kobe Bryant’s scoring average suffer this year? The Fire Says: Not bloody likely, if anything I anticipate Kobe looking for his own shot a little more this year to try and put an end to the talk that he is starting to slip a little bit.
