Laker Linkage – 10/21/09
October 21st, 2009 | by Garrett Wilson |- The Story: Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson are both praising the play of training camp invitee Tony Gaffney. The Fire Says: It still seems unlikely the Laker front office will be willing to pony up the luxury tax bucks it will cost to keep Gaffney on the roster, but this speaks well for his career and might even give him a shot at being signed to the team later if injuries strike.
- The Story: Sports Illustrated is predicting the Celtics to win the title this season. The Fire Says: SI expects Boston to top the Lakers in the Finals again. Obviously SI also expects Kevin Garnett’s mystery knee injury to not flare up again. Good luck with that.
- The Story: The Lakers barely got to the arena in time for Tuesday’s pre-season game due to a traffic accident and a brush fire. The Fire Says: Traffic and fires in southern California? I don’t believe you.
- The Story: The NBA and the referees union has agreed to a new collective bargaining contract. The Fire Says: I would care more about this if part of the new contract includes a provision that the refs can no longer suck at their jobs.
- The Story: The Lakers will be looking to improve their three-point shooting. The Fire Says: For this reason alone, Adam Morrison has a shot at regular minutes this year.
