Laker Linkage – 10/29/09
October 29th, 2009 | by Garrett Wilson |- The Story: ESPNs E:60 did a profile on Ron Artest. The Fire Says: The piece touches on Artest’s eccentricities but really focuses on how he has been working so hard for the last few years to rehab his image.
- The Story:Crooked referee Tim Donaghy makes several accusations of referee misconduct in his new book. The Fire Says: Donaghy specifically refers to the 2002 Kings-Lakers series as an example of refs being tasked with manipulating the outcome of a series. Donaghy has as much credibility as OJ Simpson right now, so take all these stories with a massive helping of salt.
- The Story: The Celtics-Cavs and Clippers-Lakers doubleheader was the highest rated night of hoops on TNT since 2006. The Fire Says: Clearly the Clippers deserve all the credit for that big rating number. Who doesn’t want to see Chris Kaman?
- The Story: Scottie Pippen thinks the Lakers have what it takes to win 72 games. The Fire Says: Pip sees a lot of similarities between this Laker squad and his Bull team and it is hard to argue with that, but I just don’t see the Lakers putting the pedal to the metal all season long to try and match the 72-win mark.
