Laker Linkage – 11/3/09
November 3rd, 2009 | by Garrett Wilson |- The Story: Pau Gasol’s early injury has exposed the Lakers’ lack of depth up front. The Fire Says: The piece offers up several free agent or trade targets for the Lakers, but it seems a bit premature for the Lakers to be shopping help just yet, at least not until a definitive diagnosis is given on Pau Gasol’s injury.
- The Story: Speaking of Pau’s injury, Gasol is headed in for an MRI on his nagging hamstring. The Fire Says: This is starting to get concerning, especially the part where they mention this could be a six week recovery. At least the Lakers are playing it safe with Pau so that he can hopefully be 100% once he does return.
- The Story: Ron Artest feels he is quicker and stronger this year. The Fire Says: Good for him. Now how about remembering how to shoot? That would be great.
- The Story: What would have happened had the Lakers been the team to originally draft Kwame Brown? The Fire Says: I didn’t realize anyone was asking. My guess is Stonehands would have had a mildly more successful career but still be considered a big time bust.
- The Story: Sam Smith has a hunch the LeBron James will sign with the Lakers next year. The Fire Says: That is the most preposterous thing I have ever heard, even from Smith who is notorious for making up crap. There is NO WAY LeBron is going to come to the Lakers to take less money and play second fiddle to Kobe Bryant.
