Discussion: Where is the Kobe Contract Extension?
November 4th, 2009 | by Garrett Wilson |I know the Lakers have more pressing concerns right now, but allow me to ask about a topic that has been floating around in the back of my mind for a few weeks now. Whatever happened to that contract extension Kobe Bryant was supposed to be working on? It was only a few weeks ago that he was rumored to be on the cusp of signing an extension before the season started, but now… nothing. Is it cause for major concern? No, but it is not small trifle either. This really shouldn’t be a drawn out process. Kobe wants and deserves the max. Give it to him. Why even mess around with letting him opt-out this summer? What could possibly be the hold up?
This week’s discussion for you Laker fans is what do you really think is going on with Kobe’s contract extension?:
A) There is no real rush since everyone knows Kobe won’t leave and there is no need to make this an in-season distraction.
B) The Lakers are waiting it out to try and convince Kobe to take less than the maximum.
C) Kobe is secretly not sold on re-signing just yet because he wants to see how Andrew Bynum develops and what the Lakers do at point guard this off-season.
SECRET OPTION D) Kobe deeply regrets not signing with the Clippers back in 2004 and intends to rectify that clearly poor decision this off-season… or not.
