Laker Linkage – 11/18/09
November 18th, 2009 | by Garrett Wilson |- The Story: Phil Jackson opines on Kobe’s toughness and pokes fun at Pau Gasol’s slow recovery. The Fire Says: Hopefully Phil’s ribbing won’t prompt Pau to come back too early and risk re-injuring himself just to prove that he isn’t “a hypochondriac.”
- The Story: Derek Fisher talks about the Lakers recent offensive woes. The Fire Says: Fish offers some interesting insight as always but does manage to omit the fact that he is playing like crap, making it harder for the Lakers to function properly on offense.
- The Story: Should the Lakers bring in Jerry Stackhouse to improve the bench? The Fire Says: It isn’t the worst idea in the world, but Stack has seen much better days. If the Lakers are going to bring in some offensive punch off the bench it should be someone who is a deadeye shooter or an athlete that can create his own shot, neither of which are characteristics that Jerry Stackhouse possesses.
- The Story: The Lakers have contacted Tony Gaffney’s agent about bringing him back. The Fire Says: It is almost like I suggested this yesterday… oh wait, I did. Even if Luke Walton weren’t hurt, the Lakers could use an athletic, energizing defender off the bench so they should just suck it up and pay the luxury tax to bring Gaffney on board.
- The Story: Kobe Bryant won’t stop posting up when Pau Gasol returns to action. The Fire Says: Kobe is having too much fun punishing players on the post, but it might actually be a good idea if he did it less since it will be awfully hard for him, Pau and Bynum to all occupy the low post at the same time.
