Laker Linkage – 11/23/09
November 23rd, 2009 | by Garrett Wilson |- The Story: Lamar Odom volunteered to return to the bench before Pau Gasol was even healthy this year. The Fire Says: It is nice to see LO being more of a team player about the sixth man thing, but the volunteering thing was unnecessary as it was pretty clear Odom was going to be coming off the bench up on Pau’s return anyway.
- The Story: It is unclear just how good the Lakers are at this point in the season. The Fire Says: The 10-3 record certainly suggests that they are at least pretty good, but I don’t think anyone thinks they are even close to being great right now.
- The Story: Defense and turnovers are atop Phil Jackson’s list of concerns at this point of the season. The Fire Says: Phil was also careful to note that he won’t have a real feel until mid-December, especially since Pau Gasol only just got back.
- The Story: Jerry Buss is still “certainly hopes so” when it comes to inking Kobe Bryant to a contract extension. The Fire Says: I continue to wonder what is taking so dang long to work out the extension and get a little more concerned with each passing day. Still, all signs point to Kobe re-upping with the Lakers before long.
