Laker Linkage – 11/24/09
November 24th, 2009 | by Garrett Wilson |- The Story: Kobe Bryant was name the NBA Player of the Week. The Fire Says: I sometimes wonder what the Player of the Week criteria is because I feel like the NBA should just be choosing between Kobe, LeBron and D-Wade every week. Still, congrats to the Mamba.
- The Story: Andrew Bynum is hoping to make the All-Star team this year. The Fire Says: And if the voting ended today, Drew would be a runaway winner for Western Conference starting center. The question is can he keep his production levels up now that he has to share the paint with Pau Gasol.
- The Story: Lamar Odom and his wife paid a visit to a children’s cancer ward in Duarte yesterday. The Fire Says: You always have to like it when a professional athlete does community service that isn’t court ordered.
- The Story: Laker owner Jerry Buss and his son Jim sat down to discuss the state of the Lakers. The Fire Says: The most interesting tidbit in the interview is that Jim Buss is almost entirely responsible for the personnel decisions.
- The Story: Shannon Brown is going from YouTube videos of his dunks to music videos with Toni Braxton. The Fire Says: Shannon stars as Toni’s love interest only to have her leave him for Ron Artest. That statement is entirely true. Only the Lakers could have a story like this.
- The Story: Ron Artest appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night… in his underwear… with the show’s logo carved into his hair. The Fire Says: This doesn’t look so good for Ron-Ron but I really think he was just trying to be funny by making light of some of the stories that have been told about him in the past. I’m just glad he didn’t punch an audience member “for fun.”
