Laker Linkage – 12/1/09
December 1st, 2009 | by Garrett Wilson |- The Story: Salary cap guru Larry Coon explains why Kobe Bryant hasn’t signed a contract extension yet. The Fire Says: Basically, if Kobe signs an extension he could get screwed by the new collective bargaining agreement, but if he re-signs as a real free agent, then his contract should be immune to any changes to the collective bargaining agreement.
- The Story: Jordan Farmar and Shannon Brown are starting to gel as a backcourt tandem. The Fire Says: Let’s calm down a little bit here. Two good games against lousy competition doesn’t mean these two are suddenly “wreaking havoc.” Consistent production is what the Laker bench needs, not flashy highlight reel plays.
- The Story: Ron Artest chimes in on the Tiger Woods controversy. The Fire Says: Ron-Ron feels bad for Tiger but basically thinks at some point every major celebrity goes through something like this. Then again, Artest gets embroiled in controversy so regularly that Tiger’s little fender bender seems like a non-event to him.
- The Story: Kobe Bryant was voted by fellow players and coaches as having the highest basketball IQ in the NBA. The Fire Says: Well, duh.
