Laker Linkage – 12/2/09
December 2nd, 2009 | by Garrett Wilson |- The Story: Sasha Vujacic says he isn’t a garbage time player. The Fire Says: He’s right, he is just playing like garbage, there is a very subtle difference. It is nice to see that Sasha isn’t taking his struggles lying down, but actions speak louder than words.
- The Story: Why was Kobe Bryant wearing red shoelaces last night? The Fire Says: No, he isn’t looking to get traded to the Bulls again, Kobe was rocking the red laces to raise awareness for World AIDS day, either that or it is a very creative cover for the Lakers hiring a color blind equipment manager.
- The Story: The Lakers have unveiled LetShannonDunk. com to campaign for Shannon Brown to participate in this year’s dunk contest. The Fire Says: The ShanWOW! movement is now official. With this kind of exposure coming from the premier franchise in the league, Brown’s invitation to the All-Star exhibition should be a slam dunk (pun entirely intended).
- The Story: Pau Gasol will need help to get into the All-Star game. The Fire Says: Pau won’t get the votes to be a starter and Phil Jackson won’t be coaching the game, so he can’t select Gasol for the team, so the other coaches will have to do it. Gasol certainly deserves it but I am actually hoping he gets snubbed just so he can stay rested and not play anymore games than he has to.
- The Story: Ron Artest admits he used to drink Hennessey during halftime of games. The Fire Says: The quote comes straight from Artest, but it still seems far-fetched that he could do this for three years with the Bulls and nobody ever noticed the big bottle of booze in his locker or said anything to him about it. Or maybe I am just saying that because this story really does make him sound like a loon and I don’t want to believe it.
