Laker Linkage – 12/4/09
December 4th, 2009 | by Garrett Wilson |- The Story: Ron Artest is backing off his statements about wanting to fight Ben Wallace. The Fire Says: He talked trash about throwing down with Big Ben in the same interview that he mentioned his halftime drinking, lending further credence to the notion that pretty much anything he said in that interview should be taken with a giant grain of salt.
- The Story: Are the Lakers poised to be the next NBA dynasty? The Fire Says: They certainly have the talent, but let’s table all the dynasty talk until they win a second title.
- The Story: Luke Walton is ramping up his off-court rehab work. The Fire Says: Don’t get too excited, Luke is determined to take his recovery slow to make sure he doesn’t aggravate his injury again.
- The Story: Shannon Brown talks about his dunking prowess and LetShannonDunk.com The Fire Says: The NBA better just get it over with and invite Shannon to the dunk contest already if only so we don’t get overrun by this PR campaign before the New Year is even upon us.
- The Story: Kobe Bryant has been serving as a mentor to Tennessee Titan QB Vince Young, giving him motivational advice. The Fire Says: Is there anything Kobe can’t do? Maybe he can even save Tiger Woods’ marriage. Lord knows Kobe has been down a similar road before.
- The Story: Ron Artest is now saying he shared the story about his halftime drinking to set an example for young people. The Fire Says: Ron-Ron is spinning it now as if he made the comments to show people that even basketball stars struggle with booze and that it is wrong. He might’ve wanted to mention that in the actual interview because without that context he just sounds like a nut job.
